Reproductive Freedom for All Statement After the Passing of Cecile Richards

Washington, DC Today, reproductive rights leader Cecile Richards, the former president of Planned Parenthood and a past board member of Reproductive Freedom for All (then NARAL Pro-Choice America), passed away. She was a powerhouse who never once wavered in her work to defend our fundamental right to make our own decisions about our bodies and families. We are grateful to have learned from her and fought by her side during her decades of advocacy for abortion rights and access. She was a transformative leader who made our movement stronger. We will honor her by continuing our work to defend reproductive health and freedom for All Americans.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Cecile Richards was my mentor and role model. I was privileged to get to work by her side at Planned Parenthood Federation of America and in more recent years at Reproductive Freedom for All. She was one of my first calls when I adopted my twin boys. A twin mom herself, she had excellent advice on all things motherhood. When I took my current role she had even more valuable insight to share, but most importantly, she expressed confidence in me—and I needed that more than I realized, especially after the Dobbs decision. Our nation lost a true hero, a fighter for our freedoms, and I lost a dear friend.”
