SHOTS/CHASER: Reps. Young Kim and Ken Calvert Repeatedly Promised NOT to Vote for Medicaid Cuts, Then Voted for Medicaid Cuts
SHOTS:
- Rep. Kim (2/25/2025): “A final budget that does not protect vital Medicaid services & address SALT does NOT have my vote.”
- Rep. Calvert (3/19/2025): “I am committed to protecting Medicaid benefits for Americans who rely on the program, including children, mothers, and the disabled.”
- Orange County Register (4/16/25):
- Rep. Kim (4/22/2025): “A budget that does not protect vital Medicaid services for the most vulnerable citizens in my community will not receive my vote.”
CHASER: Reps. Kim and Calvert voted to slash Medicaid.
Rep. Kim and Rep. Calvert both voted in favor of the deadly budget bill that will slash funding for Medicaid. A Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report found that if this bill passes, 10.9 million people will be uninsured in 2034 because of changes to Medicaid included in this budget.
Following their vote, both Reps. Kim and Calvert proactively sent out statements following their vote, outright lying about how this bill won’t slash funding for Medicaid.
