Reproductive Freedom for All Responds to News That Trump’s Department of Justice Will Drop Vital Emergency Abortion Care Case
Washington, DC— Today, it was reported that the U.S. Department of Justice, led by Trump loyalist and anti-abortion extremist Pam Bondi, intends to drop Idaho v. United States. The Biden-era case centered on whether Idaho’s total abortion ban unlawfully conflicts with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA)’s requirement to provide emergency abortion care. This is straight out of Project 2025’s extreme playbook, and the latest proof that the Trump administration will stop at nothing to ban abortion nationwide and abuse the power of every federal agency to carry out that mission—with zero regard for how many people suffer or die in its pursuit of power and control.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:
“By withdrawing this case, Donald Trump and his DOJ have decided to let women die. Rather than protect our lives and freedoms, they are following the playbook of anti-abortion extremists. We are grateful to the state leaders who are fighting back on behalf of patients and their providers and will mobilize our millions of members to join them.”
