ICYMI (in case you missed it): conspiracy slinger Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services, reaffirmed his hostility towards abortion during his first confirmation hearings last week.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. poses a threat to reproductive freedom. Reject his nomination with us!
RFK Jr. vowed to unquestionably follow the president’s lead when it comes to his decisions on abortion and reproductive health care during his first U.S. Senate confirmation hearing.
Kennedy stated multiple times that he believes “every abortion is a tragedy” (a view he also expressed on the campaign trail) and asserted that, if confirmed, he would just be another rubber stamp to Donald Trump’s anti-abortion agenda.
When questioned about mifepristone, a safe and effective medication used in the majority of abortions and miscarriage care, RFK Jr. did not rule out a ban on the medication, noting that Trump had already asked him to act on the issue.
“President [Donald] Trump has asked me to study the safety of mifepristone,” Kennedy said at Wednesday’s hearing before the Senate’s Committee on Finance.
Despite mifepristone’s well-documented safety record, Kennedy has previously said that he is “concerned about the abortion pill.”
As HHS secretary, Kennedy could effectively ban abortion nationwide by rescinding the FDA’s approval of abortion medication mifepristone, even without the consent of FDA scientists, a directive included in Project 2025.
Sen. Cortez Masto asked Kennedy whether he would follow his duty as HHS Secretary and enforce federal law, including the law that protects emergency abortion care.
To which Kennedy responded, “I don’t know.”
He was also unaware of HHS’s responsibility to receive and investigate allegations when emergency abortion care required by that federal law is illegally denied.
Make no mistake, Robert F. Kennedy is not only an anti-abortion extremist himself, he will always be a yes-man to Donald Trump and his agenda to roll back our rights and freedoms. When Donald Trump asks him to ban medication abortion, he will not hesitate to abuse his power and roll back reproductive care by any means possible.
If confirmed, RFK Jr. would undermine critical programs and policies protecting access to reproductive rights and equitable health care. Urge the U.S. Senate to reject RFK Jr.'s Cabinet nomination.
