ICYMI: Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada Marks Four Years Since Dobbs With Week of Action Events Across the State
Last week, Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada marked the four-year anniversary of the decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization—which stripped away the federal right to abortion access—with events throughout the state that highlighted Nevada’s progress and ongoing work to protect reproductive freedom in the state.
Even in states like Nevada, where voters approved the first step toward permanently protecting abortion rights in 2023, we have seen that a law on paper is not the same as being able to access care when you need it. As a result, many individuals rely on alternatives to in-person care, such as telehealth. In December of last year, 44% of abortion care in Nevada was through telehealth. As Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Nevada Campaigns Denise Lopez noted, telehealth has become “tremendously helpful” for people in rural communities, people of color, and others who face barriers to in-person care. Across the country, it has been a lifeline for people in states with abortion bans.
On June 24, Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada hosted a press conference with Nevada Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro and other state leaders to discuss the importance of approving Question 6 in November—a critical measure to permanently protect abortion access in the state’s constitution.

Additionally on June 24th, volunteers gathered in Las Vegas for another Week of Action event: Dobbs Anniversary: Rallying for Reproductive Rights. Advocates shared how Dobbs has shaped what’s next in the fight for reproductive freedom. Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada was joined by partners at The Population Connection Action Fund and recommitted to the shared work ahead.

Nevada’s Week of Action concluded with Dobbs Anniversary & Question 6 Canvass, an event where a group of volunteers in Reno, Nevada, connected with residents one-on-one to discuss Question 6 and why it’s important to protect abortion access in the state’s constitution. Volunteers shared their stories and key information ahead of the midterm elections, with the goal of engaging more Nevadans in the reproductive freedom movement.
