Mehmet Oz: Abortion Decisions Should Be Made By Politicians Like Me
Washington, DC — During a debate tonight between NARAL-endorsed candidate John Fetterman and anti-choice extremist Mehmet Oz, Oz revealed that he thinks that decisions about abortion should be made by “women, doctors, and local political leaders.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Dr. Oz can try to hide the ball all he wants, but he let slip exactly where he stands on abortion when he said that he thought politicians should have a say in these personal decisions—and we believe him. He has no place in the Senate, and we’ll be working harder than ever to ensure John Fetterman is Pennsylvania’s next senator.”
Tonight’s debate comes as NARAL Pro-Choice America is ramping up its our to elect candidates up and down the ballot during this critical moment in the fight for reproductive freedom. Last month, NARAL launched the final phase of our “Fight Back for Freedom” electoral program, powered by our 4 million-member strong grassroots movement. NARAL, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and EMILY’s List announced a partnership in May to collectively spend a historic $150 million on the 2022 midterms to elect reproductive freedom leaders up and down the ballot across the country.
