Defeat of anti-choice, anti-freedom Republican challenger Dale Crafts is a win for Mainers and reproductive freedom
Maine — Yesterday, voters in Maine reelected NARAL-endorsed Rep. Jared Golden to represent Maine’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. His victory over anti-choice, anti-freedom Republican challenger Dale Crafts marks a huge win for reproductive freedom and holds onto a critical seat in the House.
In response to Rep. Golden’s re-election, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement:
“We are proud to have endorsed Rep. Jared Golden, a proven champion for reproductive freedom, and congratulate him on winning this critical race. We know that Rep. Golden will continue to be a fierce defender of our fundamental rights in the U.S. House —and we need elected officials like him now more than ever.”
Rep. Golden was first elected to the House in 2018 and has earned a 100% voting record from NARAL’s Congressional Record on Choice. NARAL endorsed Golden as part of its largest-ever electoral program designed to reach, persuade, and mobilize key voters in target states motivated by Trump and Republicans’ unyielding attacks on reproductive freedom.
NARAL’s electoral program in Maine involved hosting more than 30 voter engagement events, driving over 78,000 calls, sending 77,000 text messages, and over 2000 postcards. Additionally, the NARAL Freedom Fund ran a robust mail program that sent over 347,000 pieces of mail to Maine voters.
