Reproductive Freedom for All Applauds Arizona Abortion Providers’ Lawsuit to Block Restrictive State Abortion Laws
Phoenix, AZ — Today, abortion providers in Arizona filed a lawsuit to block restrictive abortion laws in Arizona. The lawsuit challenges Arizona laws that require two in-person doctor visits and create a 24-hour waiting period, laws that ban abortions sought for specific reasons, like a fetal condition, and require reporting in those circumstances, and laws that ban telemedicine abortions and the mailing of abortion pills.
Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement in support of the lawsuit:
“Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona applauds the Arizona Medical Association, all the abortion providers, the ACLU and the Center for Reproductive Rights for their work on this lawsuit. This is a tremendous step in the fight to fully protect and expand abortion access in Arizona, and we’re excited to see the continued dedication of our partners and organizers across the state. These outdated laws violate Arizona’s constitutional right to abortion established by Proposition 139 which voters overwhelmingly passed last November.”
