Reproductive Freedom for All California Announces 2025 Sponsored Bill Package

Sacramento, CA — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All announced its 2025 sponsored bill package, which aims to further expand access to reproductive health care in the state and strengthen protections for abortion providers and other reproductive health care providers.

California has robust legal protections for abortion care in place, but with Trump directing his cabinet of extremists to attack abortion, birth control, and IVF nationwide—even in blue states—legislation that will bolster protections for anyone who provides or seeks reproductive health care is more crucial than ever.

Reproductive Freedom for All Chief Campaigns and Advocacy Officer Elizabeth Schoetz released the following statement:

“California has consistently been the blueprint for protecting and expanding reproductive health care, but many Californians still can’t access the care they need. We’re proud to back these bills that will meet the unprecedented moment we’re in, and look forward to working with our leaders and champions in the California legislature to ensure people in California can access the full spectrum of reproductive health care.”

Reproductive Freedom for All California is co-sponsoring the following bills to ensure people in California can access the abortion care they need—including medication abortion and emergency abortion care:

  • AB 54 (Krell, Aguiar-Curry) would create additional protections for medication abortion in California, including protections for manufacturers, distributors, pharmacists, individuals, and authorized health care providers.
  • AB 260 (Aguiar-Curry) would protect access to medication abortion, gender affirming care and other sexual and reproductive health care, and protect the ability to access this care through telehealth.
  • AB 551 (Petrie-Norris, Krell) would establish the Reproductive Health Emergency Preparedness Program (RHEPP) to expand access to treatment for pregnancy loss, miscarriage, and abortion care at Emergency Departments across California.
