Press Release
This week, California’s legislative session wrapped and 11 bills to expand reproductive freedom were signed into law. Reproductive Freedom for All California proudly supported these bills and worked to get them passed. Our 400,000 members across the state are currently mobilizing around Prop 50. These efforts include launching a campaign to educate communities through on-the-ground and digital organizing actions and training across parts of the state.
The newly signed legislation includes Assembly Bill 260 (Aguiar-Curry; sponsored), Assembly Bill 45 (Bauer-Kahan), Assembly Bill 50 (Bonta), Assembly Bill 55 (Bonta), Assembly Bill 82 (Ward), Assembly Bill 224 (Bonta) and Senate Bill 62 (Menjivar), Assembly Bill 836 (Stefani), Senate Bill 520 (Caballero), Senate Bill 578 (Smallwood-Cuevas) and Senate Bill 590 (Durazo). These bills will protect access to medication abortion and gender-affirming care, expand access to fertility treatment, expand paid family leave, create stronger protections for patients and providers, and improve access to over-the-counter birth control, among many other wins for reproductive freedom.
Reproductive Freedom for All Chief Campaigns & Advocacy Officer Elizabeth Schoetz released the following statement:
