Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates Adelita Grijalva’s AZ-07 Special Election Primary Win
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate for Arizona’s 7th Congressional District, Adelita Grijalva, won her primary election, securing the Democratic nomination. Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona members worked tirelessly to mobilize voters to secure this victory and will continue to do so heading into the general election. If elected, Grijalva will be the first Latina to represent Arizona in Congress.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Trump and Congressional Republicans have passed and signed the largest cuts to Medicaid in our country’s history, gutting reproductive health care for millions of Americans and thousands of Arizonans. We need Adelita Grijalva, who will stand against anti-abortion Republicans and protect Arizona families. We’re thrilled that she is one step closer to giving Arizonans the representation they deserve.”
Grijalva has been a champion for reproductive freedom, including using her role on the Pima County Board of Supervisors to ensure access to reproductive care for Arizonans following the overturning of Roe v. Wade and leading efforts to rebuke the Arizona Supreme Court after they upheld the 1864 abortion ban. Grijalva is the daughter of the late Congressman Raúl Grijalva and will continue his legacy of fighting for Arizonans.
Earlier this year, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Adelita Grijalva in Arizona’s Seventh Congressional District special election. Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman and Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona also canvassed for Grijalva alongside Senator Mark Kelly. The special general election for AZ-07 will be held on September 23, 2025.
