Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates as Gov. Tina Kotek Wins A Second Term as Governor of Oregon
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate Gov. Tina Kotek defeated Republican state Sen. Christine Drazan to win a second term as governor of Oregon.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Tina Kotek has made Oregon a place where federal attacks and other states’ abortion bans do not dictate whether people can get care. By reelecting her, Oregonians chose a governor who will keep using every tool at her disposal to protect patients, providers, and access—not surrender those freedoms to Donald Trump.”
Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Kotek for reelection and backed her campaign through My Body. My Ballot., the organization’s historic $23.5 million midterm program to mobilize voters, hold anti-abortion politicians accountable, and elect reproductive freedom champions. Kotek launched ads focused on abortion as part of her closing pitch to voters.
As speaker of the Oregon House, Kotek championed the state’s landmark Reproductive Health Equity Act. As governor, she signed House Bill 2002, strengthening protections for patients and reproductive health care providers. She also secured an emergency supply of mifepristone lasting through September 2028.
This year, Kotek signed additional legislation strengthening Oregon’s shield law and maintaining health care coverage for Oregon Health Plan patients who rely on Planned Parenthood after congressional Republicans cut off federal funding. These protections have helped Oregon remain a critical access point for patients living under abortion bans in other states.
Christine Drazan supported the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade and has said she would veto legislation expanding abortion access, including bills providing state funding for abortion care.
