Press Release
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate Rep. Steven Horsford defeated Republican Cody Whipple to win reelection in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“When Roe fell, Steven Horsford said the right to abortion care belongs to Nevadans, and he has consistently upheld that belief during his time in Congress. Tonight, voters sent him back to Washington to continue defending their reproductive rights and freedoms.”
Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Horsford in 2025 as part of its first slate of House frontline endorsements and backed his campaign through My Body. My Ballot., a $23.5 million campaign and the organization’s largest-ever midterm electoral program. To help secure this critical victory, Reproductive Freedom for All mobilized its more than 57,000 members in the state.
Horsford served in the Nevada state Senate for eight years before joining Congress, where he has represented central Nevada since 2019. He cosponsors the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, which would stop states from interfering with people who travel for, or help provide, legal out-of-state abortion care. He has voted against repeated efforts to restrict abortion access, including attacks on mifepristone and service members’ access to care.
Whipple, a conservative businessman and first-time candidate, doesn’t even live in the district. Last year, he claimed his weekend ranch as his home so he could run for office.
Horsford’s victory comes as Nevadans approved Question 6 for the second time, cementing the right to abortion in the state constitution once and for all.
