Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates as Sen. Amy Klobuchar Becomes First Woman Elected as Minnesota Governor

Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All celebrates Senator Amy Klobuchar’s victory to become Minnesota’s next governor. Klobuchar is the first woman to hold the office.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Amy Klobuchar has spent her career taking on anti-abortion extremists and defending our ability to access abortion care. She exemplifies the values that Minnesotans hold dear, and they made that clear by securing this historic victory.”

Sen. Klobuchar voted down all of Trump’s extreme cabinet nominees in the Senate, and has consistently backed legislation to protect and expand access to reproductive healthcare. Her opponent, Lisa Demuth, authored an abortion ban that carried criminal penalties for doctors in 2021, and has made clear that she is out of step with the state’s codified protections for abortion care.
