Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates Historic Milestone: Over 100 Democratic Women Elected to the U.S. House

Washington, D.C. — When the 120th Congress convenes in January, more than 100 Democratic women will serve in the U.S. House of Representatives at once, marking a historic milestone for women’s representation in Congress.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“We elected more than 100 Democratic women who are shaping the future of Congress and bringing us closer to equity. In Congress, they’ll use their voices to protect reproductive freedom, make health care more affordable, and hold the Trump administration accountable for its attacks on our rights.”

Reproductive Freedom for All backed many of these candidates through My Body. My Ballot., its $23.5 million campaign and largest-ever midterm electoral program. The program mobilized voters, held anti-abortion politicians accountable, and helped elect reproductive freedom champions in pivotal races across the country.

Currently, 95 Democratic women serve as representatives in the 119th Congress. Republicans, by contrast, have just 30 women serving as representatives, representing approximately 15 percent of the GOP caucus.

Despite these gains, women remain vastly underrepresented in American politics. Women hold just 28 percent of seats in Congress. Only 449 women have ever served in either chamber, accounting for roughly 4 percent of all members who have served in the House or Senate. The 2026 midterms represent an important step toward closing this gap and electing a Congress that better reflects the country it serves.
