Atlanta, GA — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate Josh McLaurin won his bid for Georgia Lieutenant Governor.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“As reproductive freedom takes center stage for Georgia voters, Josh McLaurin’s proven record as a champion in the state Senate makes him the leader ready to defend Georgians’ health care as Lieutenant Governor. Georgian voters chose a champion who will protect abortion access—and rejected Greg Dolezal’s record of helping anti-abortion extremists take it away.”
Reproductive Freedom for All Director of State Campaigns Pavitra Abraham released the following statement:
“Lieutenant governors are an important line of defense against attacks on reproductive freedom. McLaurin has consistently fought back against Georgia’s extreme abortion ban and championed the values that Georgians hold dear in the state Senate, and he will bring that same dedication to this critical new role.”
Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed McLaurin as part of the organization’s historic My Body. My Ballot. midterm program, a $23.5 million campaign to mobilize voters, hold anti-abortion politicians accountable, and elect reproductive freedom champions in key races across the country. As lieutenant governor, McLaurin will preside over the Georgia Senate and play a central role in shaping the chamber’s legislative agenda. During his time in the state Senate, he opposed anti-abortion legislation and advocated for repealing Georgia’s six-week abortion ban, expanding Medicaid, and protecting patients’ freedom to make their own health care decisions.
