Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates Senator Ed Markey’s Reelection Victory in Massachusetts

Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate Senator Ed Markey defeated Republican John Deaton to win reelection to the U.S. Senate.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Ed Markey understands that safeguarding our freedoms requires both stopping attacks and putting lasting protections into federal law. Massachusetts voters are sending him back to the Senate to keep turning their values into action.”

Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Markey as part of My Body. My Ballot., a $23.5 million campaign and the organization’s largest-ever midterm electoral program. Mini Timmaraju participated in a reproductive freedom roundtable campaign event with Markey in September.

During his time in the Senate, Markey has consistently fought back against attacks on reproductive freedom and played an instrumental role in advancing legislation to protect access to abortion care and contraception—including the Women’s Health Protection Act and the Right to Contraception Act.
