Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates Virginians Voting to Protect Fair Elections
Washington, DC — Today, Virginia voters approved a ballot measure to temporarily redraw Virginia’s congressional maps—a critical step to protect fair elections. The vote comes as Donald Trump and his allies pressure Republican-controlled states across the country to manipulate maps in their favor ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The Virginia ballot measure is a temporary, one-time amendment, ending in 2031, that entrusted Virginians with the power to level the playing field.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju joined Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger, Congressman Don Beyer, and volunteers in Woodbridge on Saturday. Members and volunteers knocked on over 300 doors in support of the ballot measure ahead of Election Day.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Congratulations to Virginia voters on their hard-fought win to protect fair elections. Trump and his cronies are attacking voting rights from every angle, and Virginians made it clear that they will not allow his power grab to tip the scales ahead of midterms.”
This victory builds on a strong foundation of organizing and electoral wins across Virginia. In 2025, Reproductive Freedom for All was on the ground helping to secure the powerful trifecta that made this moment possible, including:
-
- Launching a six-figure paid canvass operation to engage and mobilize key voters
- Knocking on 36,500 doors, making 12,000 calls, and sending thousands of texts, as well as partnering with the Virginia Coordinated Campaign on multiple Northern Virginia canvases
- Running ads in the gubernatorial race highlighting Winsome Earle-Sears’ extreme position on abortion
- Organizing events, educating our 112,000 members in Virginia about what’s at stake, including a campus organizing program at our Virginia Tech chapter.
