Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates Voters Flipping U.S. House and Senate to Reproductive Freedom Majorities

Washington, DC — Today, voters ended one-party Republican rule in Washington, flipping both the U.S. House and Senate and electing majorities committed to protecting reproductive freedom. Abortion played a decisive role in the races that decided both chambers, and Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidates flipped key Republican-held House and Senate seats.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Tonight, the American people sent an unmistakable message that shook Washington to its core: Our government belongs to us, not the extremists who have spent years stripping away our fundamental freedoms. By taking back the House and Senate, voters have put a powerful check on Donald Trump and his relentless attacks on reproductive freedom.

This is a monumental victory for everyone who has fought to reclaim control over our bodies, our futures, and our democracy. The era of unchecked attacks on our freedoms is over; we’re thankful for the steadfast leadership of Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer.”

Trump’s unpopularity and soaring costs, combined with Democrats’ focus on abortion in the final stretch, sealed upset wins across the country. Reproductive Freedom for All capitalized on this opportunity by endorsing 138 House candidates and 18 Senate candidates this cycle and launching its historic $23.5 million My Body. My Ballot. program early to elect them. The organization mobilized its 4.5 million nationwide members, especially in key battleground states including Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and California, funded paid canvass programs, and ran a seven-figure ad program exposing Republicans’ anti-abortion records.

Reproductive Freedom for All’s battleground research found that supporting a national abortion ban is a top-tier dealbreaker for voters, trailing only raising taxes and gutting Medicaid. Abortion is more popular than either political party, and 2026 shows that Republicans’ anti-abortion agenda keeps putting more districts and states on the map for Democrats heading into 2028.

With control of both chambers, the new reproductive freedom majorities can hold this administration accountable. They will control federal spending, giving them the power to end discriminatory bans on abortion coverage like the Hyde Amendment. They will investigate the agencies attacking medication abortion and emergency care, and hold the line against extremists’ efforts to ban abortion nationwide. The Senate can block Trump’s executive and judicial nominees who threaten reproductive freedom across the country. Reproductive Freedom for All will work with the new majorities to pass a federal abortion rights and access bill, move to repeal the Hyde Amendment, strengthen access to contraception, and build a future where reproductive freedom is a reality for everybody.
