Reproductive Freedom for All Condemns Trump DOJ for Offering Payouts to Anti-Abortion Extremists
Washington, DC — Yesterday, Trump’s Department of Justice announced it will be rolling out a $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization fund” created by a legal settlement between President Donald Trump and the IRS. The DOJ claims that anyone who believes they are “victims of lawfare and weaponization” by any presidential administration, past or present, could be eligible to receive these funds. The document released on Monday named several groups who could be eligible to receive payouts, including anti-abortion extremists who were prosecuted by the Biden administration under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act for breaking into abortion clinics, blocking clinic entrances, and preventing patients from accessing care.
The announcement is the latest in a pattern of actions by the Trump administration to reward anti-abortion extremists and shield them from accountability. Shortly after taking office, Trump pardoned nearly two dozen anti-abortion extremists who were convicted by Biden’s DOJ. Trump’s Justice Department then issued an order to ignore violations of the FACE Act. Last month, Trump’s DOJ fired several of the prosecutors involved in enforcing the FACE Act.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Trump is not just refusing to hold violent anti-abortion extremists accountable. He’s rewarding them. This administration has already pardoned people convicted of blocking patients from care or stalking, harassing, and harming providers. Now Trump is signaling they could be paid out by the government. This is a wildly dangerous move that puts patients and providers at risk and emboldens anti-abortion extremists who use threats and violence to push care out of reach.”
This comes amid reports that anti-abortion protestors have increased their efforts to block access to clinics and stage violent protests. According to the National Abortion Federation, blockades of abortion clinics increased from one in 2024 to six in 2025, while stalking of abortion providers and death threats against them more than doubled during that time.
