Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Angela Alsobrooks as Maryland’s Next U.S. Senator
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All announced its endorsement of Angela Alsobrooks to be the next U.S. Senator from Maryland. Alsobrooks is committed to reproductive freedom—and particularly expanding access to Black and Brown communities. If elected, she would become the first Black woman to represent Maryland in the Senate. Alsobrooks has blazed a trail of historic firsts throughout her career. From becoming the first first full-time domestic violence prosecutor in Prince George’s County—to her role as the youngest and first woman to be elected as the county’s state’s attorney—to her election in 2018 to the office of County Executive as the first woman and the first Black woman in Maryland history, she continues to break barriers.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Angela Alsobrooks is a leader who gets the job done and doesn’t let anything stand in her way. From her time as a prosecutor and state’s attorney to serving in the office of the County Executive, Angela has made history while uplifting families across the state. Maryland needs a senator who will defend their freedoms and fight for all of us, and we know she is just the person for the job. We look forward to working alongside Angela to elect our first Black woman senator from Maryland.”
Angela Alsobrooks released the following statement:
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Reproductive Freedom for All,” said Alsobrooks. “I was two years old when Roe was decided. Here we are 50 years later and now my daughter is being forced to fight a battle that should have been won by her mother and grandmother. As a Senator, I will fight so that Marylanders have what I want for my own family; safe communities, access to a quality education, jobs and economic opportunities, and that women all across this nation can make their own decision about what to do with their body.”
