Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Deb Haaland for Governor and Maggie Toulouse Oliver for Lieutenant Governor in New Mexico
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All announced its endorsements of Deb Haaland for New Mexico governor and Maggie Toulouse Oliver for lieutenant governor.
Throughout her time in Congress, Deb Haaland was an unwavering advocate for reproductive freedom and consistently voted against federal abortion bans and restrictions. She served as the first Native American cabinet secretary in U.S. history, and if elected, she would again make history as the first Indigenous woman governor in the United States.
As New Mexico Secretary of State, Maggie Toulouse Oliver has fought to expand voter access and ensure free and fair elections. She has held the line against Republican efforts to make it harder to vote—because New Mexicans’ ability to choose who governs them is what determines whether their rights will be protected.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Deb Haaland has spent her career fighting for New Mexicans, whether that’s been at home in New Mexico, in Congress, or as a cabinet secretary. Maggie Toulouse Oliver has made New Mexico a model for voter access and election security. At a moment when Trump and his extreme anti-abortion allies are escalating attacks on reproductive freedom and democracy, New Mexico needs leaders who will fight back and put people first.”
Deb Haaland released the following statement:
“I am proud to have the endorsement of Reproductive Freedom For All. I have spent my career standing up for women, families, and reproductive rights, including defending abortion access to fighting for affordable healthcare and family planning. At a time when extremists are working to roll back our freedoms across the country, I will always fight to keep New Mexico a place where everyone can make their own healthcare decisions.”
Maggie Toulouse Oliver released the following statement:
“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Reproductive Freedom For All. I often say New Mexico is an oasis for rights, and as Lt. Governor, I will fight every day to keep it that way. As states across the country enact draconian bans on reproductive care and attack women’s health, we must continue to set an example as a refuge of pro-choice policies that empower women – not persecute us.”
