Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Garlin Gilchrist for Michigan’s Secretary of State
Today, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Garlin Gilchrist in his bid to become Michigan’s next Secretary of State. As Lieutenant Governor, Gilchrist worked alongside Governor Whitmer to deliver historic wins for Michiganders, including passing Prop 3, Michigan’s constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights, which voters passed decisively in 2022. He also led the state’s efforts to deliver free pre-k for all and support Michigan’s small businesses by investing in infrastructure and workforce development.
Secretaries of State play a critical role in enforcing protections for abortion access across the country. Extremists in the state legislature and in Congress continue to push legislation restricting access to reproductive care, despite Michiganders’ decisive vote to constitutionally protect abortion access. At the same time, these Republican politicians are gutting critical public health programs, including Title X and Medicaid, threatening the health and economic security of families across the state.

As Secretary of State, I’ll stand tall to defend both, because defending our democracy is how we secure our rights and our future.”
