Reproductive Freedom for All: Haley Stevens’ Endorsement Cannot Erase Mike Rogers’ Anti-Abortion Record

Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All responded to Rep. Haley Stevens’ endorsement of Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate, underscoring his long record of supporting abortion bans and restrictions on reproductive health care. Stevens’ endorsement comes as Rogers attempts to soften that record in a campaign ad posted on his X account today—even while embracing it on a Detroit talk radio show days ago.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Nothing can erase Mike Rogers’ votes or make him any less dangerous to our reproductive freedom. Haley Stevens is giving cover to a politician who spent his career trying to ban abortion and was still bragging about that record just days ago. The stakes are too high for politics to distract us from the very real threat posed by Mike Rogers – we must elect Abdul El-Sayed to the Senate.”

Just days ago, Rogers appeared on a Detroit talk radio show and reassured the audience that he had a 100% anti-abortion rating when he was in Congress, and he will maintain that record if reelected. Days before that, he accepted a campaign contribution from the National Pro-Life Alliance political action committee. His new ad asks Michigan voters to overlook years of votes, legislation, and statements supporting restrictions on abortion.

 Rogers’ record includes:

This is not the first time Rogers has moderated his position on abortion to try to win an election. He faced this same vulnerability in 2024. Days before defeating him, now-Senator Elissa Slotkin explicitly linked her confidence in the race to reproductive rights and women crossing party lines on this issue.
