Reproductive Freedom For All Responds to Senate Republicans Again Blocking Critical Reproductive Freedom Legislation
Washington, DC — Today, Senate Republicans blocked several key pieces of legislation aimed at protecting and advancing reproductive freedom. The blocked bills include:
- S.2053 – Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act of 2023, which protects the right to travel for abortion care and to assist or provide care to someone who is traveling to access care.
- S.1297 – Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act, which protects medical professionals who provide care that is legal in their state to residents of states that ban such care.
- S.2024 – Reproductive Health Care Training Act of 2023, which authorizes funding for programs to expand and support comprehensive abortion care training.
In the coming days, the Senate is expected to vote on the Reproductive Freedom for Women Act, which provides senators an opportunity to demonstrate their support for protecting and restoring abortion access.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Senate Republicans had another chance to protect the fundamental freedoms of Americans, and they refused to take action. They see the utter devastation the GOP’s abortion bans are waging on our families and communities and they couldn’t care less. But they can count on this: We will work every day from now until Election Day to ensure voters know what these extremists have done. Our rights and our health are on the line, and we won’t stop until we secure reproductive freedom majorities in Congress and send the Biden-Harris administration back to the White House to lock the federal right to abortion into law.”
