Reproductive Freedom for All Thanks Governor Janet Mills Following Suspension of Senate Campaign
Washington, DC — Maine Governor Janet Mills announced today that she is suspending her campaign for U.S. Senate, stepping back from a high-profile and closely watched race with major implications for Senate control. Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Governor Mills last year.
Governor Mills has been a critical leader in safeguarding abortion access in Maine, ensuring patients can access care even as rights have been stripped away across the country. Her record is a reminder of the essential role state leaders play in protecting reproductive freedom.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Janet Mills has been an extraordinary champion for reproductive freedom — not just in words, but in action. Again and again, she used her office to protect and expand access to abortion care in Maine, even as rights were being stripped away across the country. She made Maine a safe haven when it mattered most — and Reproductive Freedom for All is proud to have stood alongside her every step of the way. We are grateful for her service and her unwavering commitment to ensuring that people can make their own decisions about their bodies and their futures.”
