Reproductive Freedom for All Condemns Senate Passage of GOP Budget Bill

Washington, DC — Today, the U.S. Senate passed the GOP’s deeply unpopular budget bill that will defund Planned Parenthood, make draconian cuts to Medicaid, and ultimately leave 16 million people without health care coverage. If Planned Parenthood is “defunded,” nearly 200 clinics would be forced to close their doors, and more than 1.1 million patients could lose access to care.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:

“The Senate passing this outrageous bill confirms what we already know. The GOP doesn’t care how many people are harmed as long as their agenda advances. Not only are they ripping health care away from millions of people, they’re forcing a nationwide backdoor abortion ban by defunding Planned Parenthood. This is not what Americans want. The House now has another chance to reject this unacceptable budget, and we urge them to listen to their constituents and reject this dangerous bill.”
