On the Third Anniversary of the Overturning of Roe v. Wade, Being Pregnant in America is More Dangerous Than Ever; Reproductive Freedom For All Arizona Continues Campaign to Mobilize against Trump & GOP
Washington, DC — Three years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court — stacked by Trump-appointed justices — handed down its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that ended Roe v. Wade and the federal right to abortion. Since then, 21 states have eliminated or restricted access to abortion because of abortion bans. The Trump administration and Republicans continue to push policies designed to eliminate reproductive health care, including abortion, contraception, and IVF – all in their ultimate pursuit of a national abortion ban.
In the past three years, we founded a citizen initiative powered by thousands of volunteers to successfully pass Prop 139, a measure that constitutionally protects Arizonans’ access to abortion care; our partners successfully oversaw an Arizona judge overturning Arizona’s 15-week abortion ban; and we mobilized our members alongside reproductive freedom champion lawmakers to repeal the state’s 1864 near-total abortion ban. In Arizona, Reproductive Freedom for All supported the elections of Governor Katie Hobbs and Attorney General Kris Mayes, who have since leveraged the power of their offices to champion reproductive freedom.
Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and the GOP have made America less safe, less healthy, and less free. Since the fall of Roe, anti-abortion extremists have tried to ban abortion at every turn, but we have not let up in our fight against their attacks on our reproductive rights. Here in Arizona, we passed a ballot measure to constitutionally protect abortion access, and successfully pushed back against the MAGA movement’s many attempts to restrict reproductive health care. Make no mistake: the GOP will not stop until they ban abortion nationwide. But Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona will continue to lead in the fight to make sure Arizonans have their freedoms protected.”
