No Borders on Freedom: Honoring Immigrant Heritage Month, Defending Immigrant Rights

Democracy Is Rooted in Diversity, Not Division

Immigrants are here to work, dream, and thrive- just like you

This Immigrant Heritage Month we’re honoring how immigrant communities strengthen our democracy.

Because democracy is rooted in diversity, not division.

Immigrants aren’t outside the democratic experiment—they help shape it. They raise families, care for communities, build businesses, pay taxes, create culture and art, and fight for justice. They are our neighbors and leaders in the reproductive freedom movement.

Democracy is more than a system of government. It’s a shared vision.

The American dream has always been complex—built on hope, shadowed by contradiction, and fueled by the ever-evolving dreams of people who call this country home. If we believe in democracy—true democracy—then we must believe in the dignity, freedom, and humanity of every person who contributes to this country, no matter where they were born.

It’s a shared vision made stronger, not weaker, by the many languages spoken in our homes. A vision shaped by the textures of our traditions, the rhythms of our cultures, and the collective strength of our lived experiences.

But that strength is threatened when immigrant communities are marginalized and silenced.

Democracy is about everybody being heard.

And right now, too many voices are being silenced.

Across the country, we’re watching an aggressive push to strip away basic freedoms—from banning abortion to criminalizing immigrants. From statehouse floors to federal courts, Trump and his cronies are targeting immigrant communities with fear and cruelty.

These attacks are not isolated; they are part of a coordinated effort to decide who deserves power, protection, and dignity.

Right now, the Trump administration is disappearing people in plain sight. Immigrant communities are under attack—not receiving any due process and afraid to live their lives.

The truth is, no one is free until we all are. You can’t have true freedom if you, your family, or your community lives in fear of deportation. You can’t access health care if you’re denied coverage or afraid to seek it. You can’t parent freely if your rights are under constant attack and taking your kid to school means risking deportation.

At Reproductive Freedom for All, we know that honoring culture means more than posting a flag or sharing a story. It means fighting for people’s rights.

We are united in pushing back on policies that dehumanize, criminalize, and exclude.

We are working to build a future where every person—no matter their immigration status—has the freedom to make decisions about their body, their family, and their lives without fear.

Our movement is powered by the richness of our differences—we fight for everybody’s freedom. That means Black and brown immigrants. That means Latinx immigrants. That means queer immigrants. That means undocumented, mixed-status, and first-generation families. That means honoring every language, every accent, every struggle that brought us here.

When immigrant voices are protected, when immigrant bodies are cared for, when immigrant rights are defended—we all move closer to a democracy that lives up to its name.

Join us in this fight.

Because democracy isn’t just an idea.
It’s a collective commitment.
And we’re all in this together.

The safety of our staff and volunteers has always been a top priority for us; we partnered with organizations that specialize in progressive organizations to perform an in-depth security assessment and implement a safety plan for our staff and volunteers.
