Press Release
Today, Reproductive Freedom for All California released its 2025 Legislative Scorecard, grading every legislator in Sacramento on their commitment to reproductive freedom.
Reproductive Freedom for All Senior Director of California Campaigns Kristin Slevin released the following statement:
“As Donald Trump and anti-abortion extremists across the country are attacking access to health and reproductive care—including attempts to force other states’ extreme abortion bans on Californians—a reproductive freedom majority in the legislature has never been more important. The results of our scorecard are clear: we have strong advocates in Sacramento, but we need every California legislator committed to protecting abortion access and fighting back against federal attacks on care. Our 390,000 members in California will keep working to elect champions and hold every elected official accountable.”
The Legislative Scorecard recognizes reproductive freedom champions and raises the bar for every legislator who has yet to earn that designation.
In the 2025 scorecard, 38 legislators earned the “Champion” designation, with 20 legislators earning an A+ and an additional 20 earning an A. Altogether, 62 legislators—over half of the legislature—earned the designation of “Reproductive Freedom Champion” or “Reproductive Freedom Leader” in the 2025 scorecard. 11 bills that Reproductive Freedom for All California scored were signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom, including AB 260 (Aguiar-Curry), a bill sponsored by Reproductive Freedom for All California to protect access to medication abortion in California and shield patients and providers from hostile out-of-state attacks.
Reproductive Freedom for All California also helped pass Prop 50, giving Californians the chance to elect more reproductive freedom champions to the U.S. House next year.
