Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates as Bob Brooks Flips Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District

Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate Bob Brooks defeated anti-abortion extremist Ryan Mackenzie and flipped Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Bob Brooks spent his career protecting working families, and now he is bringing that same commitment to Congress to defend their ability to access abortion care. Ryan Mackenzie tried to hide his extreme anti-abortion record, but voters saw through it—and elected a champion for their rights instead.”

Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Brooks in August as part of My Body. My Ballot., a $23.5 million campaign and the organization’s largest-ever midterm electoral program. To help secure this critical victory, Reproductive Freedom for All mobilized its nearly 200,000 members in Pennsylvania and spent nearly $250,000 on a digital ad program to support Bob Brooks. Weeks before Election Day, Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju joined Bob Brooks in Pennsylvania for a tour of an Allentown clinic and a roundtable on what health care providers need from Congress.

Bob Brooks is a retired Bethlehem firefighter and former president of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association, where he fought for higher wages, better health care, and stronger benefits for workers. He defeated Ryan Mackenzie, who narrowly won the district in 2024 by just one percentage point.

Mackenzie has a 100% anti-abortion voting record and supports a national abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest. He has repeatedly voted to restrict access to reproductive health care while aligning himself with hardline anti-abortion groups. Reproductive Freedom for All launched a series of digital ads exposing Mackenzie’s anti-abortion record, which he once touted before wiping it from his campaign website.

Mackenzie backed Trump’s agenda in Congress, including the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which cuts roughly $1 trillion from Medicaid and is expected to leave thousands of his former constituents without health insurance. He also spread misinformation about election fraud and attempted to block the certification of Electoral College votes following the 2020 presidential election.
