Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates JoAnna Mendoza’s Victory in AZ-06 Election Against Representative Juan Ciscomani

Washington, DC — Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate JoAnna Mendoza won her bid to represent Arizona’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House, flipping the seat and defeating anti-abortion extremist Juan Ciscomani.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“JoAnna Mendoza spent 20 years defending this country, and she understands that no one should ever have to surrender control over their bodies. Juan Ciscomani has been against Arizonans’ reproductive freedom at every turn throughout his time in the U.S. House, and we are excited to celebrate JoAnna Mendoza’s victory in flipping this crucial seat.”

Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Mendoza in November 2025 and backed her campaign through My Body. My Ballot., the organization’s $23.5 million campaign and largest-ever midterm electoral program. To help secure this critical victory, Reproductive Freedom for All mobilized its more than 100,000 members in the state and launched a five-figure phone program to get out the vote.

Days after the endorsement, Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona and its partners organized a 150-person picket and launched mobile billboards highlighting a major Ciscomani donor’s role in sending him to Congress. In February 2026, the organization launched a five-figure digital ad campaign in AZ-06 holding Ciscomani accountable for cutting Medicaid, defunding Planned Parenthood, and raising health care costs. Ciscomani also voted to restrict service members’ access to abortion and cast a key vote for Trump’s so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which cut Medicaid and defunded Planned Parenthood.

By contrast, Mendoza, a retired Marine who served in both the Navy and Marine Corps, has been a forceful advocate for abortion access for service members, veterans, and military families. She supported Proposition 139 and spoke out against Trump administration policies that ended abortion-related travel assistance for service members and eliminated nearly all abortion care through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
