Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Dr. Amish Shah to Represent AZ-01 in Congress
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Dr. Amish Shah in his bid to represent AZ-01 — a key seat that will shape Democrats’ path to a majority in Congress. Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju will join Dr. Shah in Phoenix on Wednesday for a national endorsement event, alongside a reproductive care provider and constituent, on the heels of a six-figure organizing investment announced last month.
Throughout his time in the Arizona Legislature, Dr. Shah worked to repeal Arizona’s abortion ban, co-sponsored the Right to Contraception Act, and personally collected hundreds of signatures to help pass Prop 139, which enshrined abortion access in the state constitution. If elected, he would bring two decades of experience as an emergency room physician and an advocate for Arizonans’ care to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Dr. Shah’s opponent, Jay Feely, is a Trump loyalist who doesn’t live in the district—he’s only in this race because Trump told him to run in AZ-01. He has repeatedly supported defunding Planned Parenthood and has promised to rubber-stamp more of Trump’s dangerous agenda in Washington if elected.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“As an emergency room doctor who still works shifts in his district, Dr. Amish Shah knows better than anyone that personal medical decisions belong with patients and their doctors. Electing Dr. Shah this November is how we take back Congress and reject the extreme national agenda that Jay Feely is eager to bring to Phoenix. We’re proud to back Dr. Shah and help deliver a Congress committed to reproductive freedom.”
Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement:
“I had the pleasure of working alongside Dr. Shah in the Arizona Legislature, and can tell you firsthand that his commitment to the health and well-being of Arizona families has never wavered. Dr. Shah knows how important reproductive freedom is, which is why he personally knocked doors to carry Prop 139 across the finish line. Our more than 100,000 members in Arizona are ready to send him to Congress this November to defend the protections we’ve worked so hard to secure in Arizona.”
Dr. Amish Shah released the following statement:
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Reproductive Freedom For All. In both the emergency room and the State House, I have always worked to protect women’s rights to make their own healthcare decisions, and I’ll continue to do so in Congress.”
