Reproductive Freedom for All Announces Slate of Endorsements for Virginia Races, Including Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All announced a slate of endorsements for Virginia candidates, including Ghazala Hashmi for Lieutenant Governor, Jay Jones for Attorney General, and multiple state House of Delegates races.
Ghazala Hashmi served as chair of the Senate Education and Health Committee and was an original cosponsor for the ballot initiative bill this year that will give voters the opportunity to enshrine reproductive freedom as a right in the Virginia Constitution. If elected, she will be the first woman, Muslim, and South Asian American elected to the Lieutenant Governor’s position in Virginia. As state Senator, Jay Jones always voted to protect reproductive freedom. If elected, he will be Virginia’s first Black Attorney General. Having a strong coalition of reproductive freedom champions in the House of Delegates will be critical in ensuring that Virginia voters are able to vote on a constitutional amendment to protect reproductive freedom in 2026.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“As Donald Trump and the GOP threaten access to reproductive care on all levels, state champions are holding the line when it comes to keeping abortion safe and accessible. Ghazala Hashmi, Jay Jones, and this slate of candidates running for the state legislature will fight for Virginians’ rights and freedoms, and we are proud to support their efforts and look forward to electing a reproductive freedom trifecta in the Commonwealth this November.”
Reproductive Freedom for All is also proud to endorse the following candidates to Virginia Assembly Positions:
