Attack on Servicemembers’ Access to Abortion: Final Passage

National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024. Final Passage. A bill to authorize funding for certain defense, military, and national security programs which repeals the Department of Defense leave and travel policy that eases the burden of the statutory restrictions that force servicemembers and dependents to travel to access reproductive health care, including abortion services. (Some lawmakers who oppose reproductive freedom cast what appear to be votes in support of reproductive freedom; most observers recognize that those votes were cast for reasons unrelated to reproductive health.) A vote for reproductive freedom was against the bill.

This measure negatively impacts reproductive freedom.
