TL;DR (too long, didn’t read) summary:

It’s clear that Trump is ready to make Project 2025 a reality.

Project 2025 is the conservative plan to devastate reproductive freedom, including abortion, contraception, IVF, health privacy, and gender justice issues.

The barrage of assaults on abortion access has not stopped since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, and it will only escalate further under Trump’s second presidency.

The patchwork of state bans, the weaponization of government policies, and the efforts to use a court system stacked with Trump-appointed judges to block abortion access have already caused widespread harm nationwide including denied emergency care and tragic, preventable deaths.

At the end of the day, all of Trump’s cabinet nominees work for Trump and were selected because they are loyalists who will not challenge him.

Even though Trump says he won’t sign a federal abortion ban, his radical appointees are clearly intent on decimating reproductive freedom and they’ll have the power to do so.

Project 2025 Background

Project 2025 is the conservative plan for Trump’s second term created by his most trusted administration officials and allies.

The 900-page conservative policy agenda spells out how Trump’s administration will decimate our fundamental rights and democracy. The plan is so radically extremist that Trump adamantly denied knowing anything about it on the campaign trail.

Clearly that couldn’t be further from the truth—at least 140 people who worked in the first Trump administration had a hand in crafting it, and now at least 17 of Trump’s cabinet nominees are associated with either Project 2025 or the extremist conservative think tank, America First Policy Institute, that wrote it.

Threats to Reproductive Freedom

Some of the cornerstone ideas behind Project 2025 include:

  • Effectively banning abortion access nationwide by misusing the Comstock Act to block access to abortion pills and medical equipment and rescinding FDA approval of abortion medication
  • Restricting 48 million people from accessing contraception by making changes to the Affordable Care Act
  • Making IVF “fully obsolete”
  • Creating a surveillance state that tracks births and abortions
  • Allowing states to deny pregnant people emergency care  and employers to deny birth control coverage
  • Weaving anti-abortion extremist rhetoric and disinformation into federal health policy
